Who We Are
Susan Park
Founder/Executive Director - AA4H (Asian Americans for Housing and Environmental Justice)
CAAPI CDC (Coreatown Asian American Pacific Islander Community Development Corporation)
Susan Park is a second generation Korean-American, who grew up in Los Angeles. As a child, she saw her parents being denied access in America because they spoke English with accents. The sting of these insults drives her to this day. Her parents had a "Korean only" rule at home. She is multilingual.
Susan’s community organizing work began when she opened Revolutionario North African Tacos with her family in 2015 in South Central LA near USC. She and her family became well known among local organizers, activists, nonprofit leaders, and elected officials for giving back to the community. It was through these meaningful connections that she was able to launch a nonprofit and privately fundraise $150,000 and be awarded a $475,000 grant the first year. Former city councilman, Herb Wesson, awarded AA4H $25,000 just one month after AA4H was founded.
She is a co-founder member of LA Tenant’s Union BLC (Baldwin Hills Leimert Park Crenshaw) local with Zerita Jones, another long time resident of Los Angeles. The two friends later went on to co-found JEPWA CLT (Jefferson Exposition Park West Adams Community Land Trust), which was awarded a general operating grant from city councilman Marqueese Harris-Dawson.
Susan is on the donor advisory board ofFACE-LA. AA4H was chosen as the leadnonprofit for Growing The Table. Susan was connected toTomKat Foundation by former LA County Supervisor District 2, Mark Ridley Thomas and Robert Sausedo, CEO ofCommunity Build, a nonprofit that was founded by Congresswoman Maxine Waters.
